Money Matters
You are advised to take a safe deposit box in your hotel or apartment block and just carry the necessary amount of money with you. You can change your travellers cheques or cash into euros at the reception of your hotel, apartment block, change bureaux or local banks.
To change travellers cheques you will need to show your passport for identification purposes. It is advisable to check that the amount of money you are given corresponds with the exchange rate offered - this changes daily.
Most banks have cash machines which accept your cash card from home. The instructions for use are normally in many languages.
CURRENCY CONVERSION
Now that we are in the age of the Euro in Spain, those of you who have been coming here for years will have to forget about pricing things in Pesetas. As a rough guide, the price of something in sterling is about two thirds of the Euro price. For example. If something is 30 euros, it would be around £20 sterling.
