Every week I write and article for the Euro Weekly News, an English-speaking newspaper covering all the major resorts of Spain and the Balearics. You can pick up a copy on a Thursday ... or read it here every week.

Just how do people, who are almost certainly a slice short of a kebab, manage to achieve such success on this completely upside down planet of ours?

What Mohamed Al Fayed lacks in stature, he compensates by such an insane megalomania, that were he not better heeled than the whole summer collection of Clarke's footwear, he   would probably have been committed years ago. This demented demigod will only be happy when the Queen and Duke of Edinburgh are shackled in the tower with the beheading date set. The whole of the British legal system scrapped and replaced by the laws according to Mohamed (Fayed that is). And he proclaimed King after receiving his crown in the portals of Westminster Abbey.

This sad little man and his brigade of fawning 'yes' persons (Michael Cole is feathering his nest so far up his bosses sun deprived area, he'll need blasting equipment to free himself!) is a prime example of the pathetic one track thinking that engulfs most of his Mid Eastern ilk.

The rigid, impenetrable belief that they are always in the right.

Subsequently, irrespective of overwhelming evidence to the contrary, those who disagree with them are invariably in the wrong.

It is this awful insecurity and lack of moral courage that leads to the burning of flags, and fatwa's being declared against any who dare to disagree. Those who face life with this attitude are like bullies in the school playground. Lacking the intelligence or moral courage to take on any other point of view or constructive argument, they simply lash out at all who oppose them. To compensate for their complexes of inferiority they will endeavor to use any means to prove themselves correct and superior. Some use bribery, others use violence. The thing they are all totally unable to enter into is any reasonable argument. To exist in this framework of self delusion they also have of course to be psychological liars. Fayed's agreement under oath to accept the decision of the jury in this latest 'final' court hearing is a prime example.   What he actually meant was if the outcome proved his accusations and maniacal ranting to be correct - then he would agree to the verdict. Which of course it didn't, and with monotonous predictability, he hasn't.

Well let us sincerely hope that he does finally hold his hands up and this indeed is the end of the matter. Further more, let us hope that despite all the pressure this delusional little mans millions bring to bear, not another penny of the British taxpayers money is spilled in that direction.

RIP Princess Di.

Can you imagine him as a father in law?

At the time of writing, the Olympic torch has not only been extinguished once, but four times. Hate to say 'I told you so' but I told you so.

What I find so difficult to bear are the no doubt sincere, but totally naïve views of those who stand up and pathetically bleat that they support the Beijing Olympics because 'sport should not be aligned to politics'. Well of course it shouldn't. The problem is that politics and greed are exactly why our illustrious lot selected China to host this next sporting extravaganza. The genuflecting West are all scrabbling for a slice of China's bursting economic phenomena. The fact that they use robotic slave labour, earning a pittance to achieve it is conveniently ignored. Fleeting references of concern from the Western bollo'ticians are of course occasionally voiced. Particularly when the public outcry is loud enough to be heard in the voting booths!   But they are never quite loud enough to really upset the apple carts of greed and power are they? Heaven forbid.

I wouldn't be surprised if any vaguely derogatory public statement to be issued is not preceded by a transcript sent to the Chinese hierarchy with an accompanying 'we don't really mean it' footnote, before it even sees the light of day. Don't scoff. I wouldn't put anything past our conniving power mad con merchants. Not one solitary iota.

Met someone today who told me to write something controversial this week.

OK. The only Islamic policy I agree with is the banning of female drivers. And if that's not a recipe for a female fatwa I don't know what is.

Keep the Faith
