Every week I write and article for the Euro Weekly News, an English-speaking newspaper covering all the major resorts of Spain and the Balearics. You can pick up a copy on a Thursday ... or read it here every week.

The last time I wrote this blurb was with a sad heart because my best friend had died. This week I write it with the same sentiment because the country of my birth (whose only offence to me has been a lack of sunshine) has also, all but expired.

Seventy per cent of British companies have decided not to put up Christmas (is it ok to use that word?) decorations, and schools - assuming they are doing it at all - are now calling their nativity plays 'Sparkles' and 'Winter's tales'. The almost unbelievable unctuous political correctness and frightening complacency of most Brits have allowed the predators, who patiently wait to pounce and erode the very core of British tradition, to well and truly pounce.

Personally I do not care if my belief in the prophet Jesus upsets 'other religions'. His message of peace and love and turning the other cheek is one I want to shout from the highest rooftop I can find. The message of Christianity has been at the very centre of our heritage for centuries, and I for one will do everything in my power to ensure my children carry it forward and ultimately teach it to my grandchildren and beyond. How can the teachings of this gentle soul, whose message was to simply love one another and live in peace with all our fellow human beings be 'offensive'? This word implies that it upsets followers of faiths who do not believe in these values and prefer alternative measures.

Are we seriously considering curtailing Christianity, and consequently condoning any belief that prefers to convey its message with fire and brimstone? No, I am afraid I am the one who is offended and indeed outraged by anything that tries to infer that my religion is 'not acceptable'. This does not mean I am going to rush out and start eliminating anyone who does not share my beliefs. The founder of my religion taught me otherwise. But I will take every opportunity to spread His gospel and values, and if anyone takes offence, tough titty. There are plenty of non-Christian countries in the world, each having the right to exist and flourish.

If those who wish to follow other cultures and beliefs are sincere and genuine, what better place to do it than in one of those countries? For God's sake when are the British going to wake up and start getting their priorities right? Ever tried to get planning permission for a church in Iran? Precisely my point. Unfortunately a point not taken I fear, so on your own heads be it.

Until you oust the 'pc's and bleaters of so-called 'human rights' (what exactly does that mean anyway?) the dear, peace-loving and once progressive land our forefathers fought to preserve will sink into a morass of bloodshed and hatred where no one will be safe.

So decorate your work places and homes with all the trappings of Christmas joy.

Let the Christian message of peace love and happiness ring out loud and clear from all corners of the land.

Celebrate the birth of the Messiah in every school in the country. Let all about you hear and rejoice in the uplifting (un 'pc' tampered) carols from the churches and street corners. But above all, let the pride of our heritage become abundantly clear to those who would wish to undermine, alter or erode it. It is our strength, our future and the very rock our great country was founded on.

I know it is not quite here yet, and at the risk of causing 'offence', is it ok to close this week's blurb by wishing you all a very merry Christmas? Thank the Lord for that. Have a peaceful and joyful week. All together now... 'Hark the herald angels sing, glory to the new born King....'

Keep the faith,

Love Leapy
