Every week I write and article for the Euro Weekly News, an English-speaking newspaper covering all the major resorts of Spain and the Balearics. You can pick up a copy on a Thursday ... or read it here every week. |

I must confess the letter to Ms Ed from Major R. (retired!) published last week, did cause me a somewhat wry grimace. Not so much in a derogatory sense you understand, but purely because I had covered all, and indeed more of his points, in answer to a similar letter published some time ago. With that in mind, I welcome you as an obviously new peruser Major and refer you to my web site. If you have the time or inclination to search previous columns, you will find not only did I mix with the local fraternity during my mid-east sojourn, but in fact a great deal of my work meant dealing with them directly. Subsequently I enjoyed many a 'goat grab' sitting cross-legged in their homes partaking of the communal Hookah and discussing, in my stumbling Arabic, a number of future ventures and schemes. I actually finished up partners with a local Sheik in the fruit and veg trade. (It's in the book!). If you haven't bartered with a hoard of jostling, good humored Yemenis, while soaking up the wonderful atmosphere of an Arabic veg market at 5 o'clock in the morning, you really haven't lived. So you see Major, before you make a fool of yourself by presenting ill informed comments to a newspaper as widely read as the Euro, I suggest in future you initially become a tad more acquainted with the true facts - Awright? How much longer is the lily livered British government going to kowtow to these maniacal Muslim extremists? Mercifully, last week saw the release of the beleaguered Liverpool school teacher, the facts of which we are all painfully aware. I fully understand the government pussy footing while this poor woman's fate was in the hands of these deranged fanatics. However, once she was safely home, surely the government should have launched the strongest of protests, withdrawing all aid to the Sudan, closing up their consulate and halting the issue of visas to its populace. Thus sending a clear message to these people that Britain is not, and indeed never will be, prepared to put up with such insane extremism? Instead (once again) the government mumbled unctuous thanks and comments about, 'having the greatest of respect' etc. etc. and after heaving a sigh of resigned relief, carried on business as usual. Give me a break. These people are at war with us and all we hold sacred - a conflict which at the moment we are most certainly losing. If those who last week waved machetes in the air are, in the near future, brandishing nuclear arms, all the 'greatest respects' in the world won't save any of us. We are at the moment objects of total scorn in the mid east world A soft target, just waiting to be ground under the 'flip flops' of people who would rather be dead than alive. If the western world wishes to remain a free democracy, this monumental threat must be addressed with every means at our disposal. To hell with 'hurting peoples feelings'. Sub humans who sever heads on national TV; call for the death of innocents for giving the 'wrong name' to a child's toy, and propose 'death to all infidels' in protest of cartoons, are so insecure and unstable their 'feelings' should never be an issue. The only thing these people 'feel' is unmitigated hatred and unquenchable bloodlust. For the life of me I cannot understand how the British government can allow this unbelievably dangerous and potentially lethal scenario to continue with such pathetic and weak opposition. Could it possibly be they have already become infiltrated without even being aware of it? Don't laugh; they have already put illegal immigrants to work at the ministry of defence - not a great step from extremists in the portals of power I wouldn't think. For all our sakes these people must be stood up to. Forget the pathetic PC'ing. Have done with all the,' greatest of respects' bull...t. Stop all aid to - and immigration from - any of these countries not prepared to abide by our laws and customs. And give free and compulsory exit visas to those already ensconced who would seek to change our culture and way of life. Only patriotism and pride will give us the strength to unite and defeat these maniacs. Remember 'divide and conquer'? Believe me, the divisions these people are already gleefully perpetrating in the western world will one day, if not severely dealt with, bring about the end of civilization as we know it. I await the slings and arrows, and frankly my dears - I don't give a damn! Keep the faith. Love Leapy |
