Every week I write and article for the Euro Weekly News, an English-speaking newspaper covering all the major resorts of Spain and the Balearics. You can pick up a copy on a Thursday ... or read it here every week.

Over the years I have visited a number 'regime oppressed' countries - i.e. South Africa, under apartheid, Saudi Arabia under the rule of 'class', Rhodesia under 'white supremacy' ect. As you enter these countries you are immediately beset by a feeling never experienced in the free democratic countries of the planet. To describe the phenomenon is difficult. It seems to comprise of a number of components. Part apprehension, part uncertainty, part sadness and fear, it settles around your shoulders like a restricting shroud. It governs what you say, what you do and even where you look. What a relief it always was to return to the shores of England. With its Hyde Park corner orators, democratic views on free speech and the knowledge that you could stand up and, at any time - as long as it didn't cross the line of decency and public order- say or deliver your views on just about any thing your old heart desired, it was true freedom and a joy to come home to.

Well not any more.

To my real dismay, and sadness I may add, I experienced exactly those same oppressive feeling on my recent visit to the auld country. Make no mistake. England is under psychological attack. That wonderful sense of freedom we knew and loved is well and truly missing. Certain subjects are most definitely taboo. If you stray into these realms, voices are suddenly reduced to whispers, furtive glances are cast around, and a general feeling of discomfort prevails until the subject is led into less controversial areas. Taxi drivers were always great outlets for a multitude of news and views; indeed it was often difficult to shut them up. Not any more. How can you enter into a discussion with your driver/ passenger, when he/ she could be the enemy themselves? How can you voice any controversial opinions at all when the very person you are talking to could have you arrested - as indeed can anyone who overhears you? How can you feel that wonderful sense of the freedom our forefathers fought for when you are surrounded by enemies in your own backyard, plus the simmering undercurrent of mistrust that makes you think carefully about opening your mouth about anything at all that may upset the pc brigade? If the people, and so called leaders of England, don't get a grip they can stick there heads between their legs and kiss their country goodbye. I personally think it's too late already. Many of these insurgent extremists already infest the infrastructure of the country. When the very authorities you complain to turn out to be one of them, as will most surely come to pass, it'll be all over. The democracy that enabled us to be a free nation will be the very weapon our enemies have used to defeat us. Have no delusions, when the law becomes an even bigger ass than it already is and censorship more rife than it is already, the blame for the countries demise will fall firmly at the feet of our illustrious leaders, who are still naively and unbelievably unaware of the fact, that, if their often beyond belief policies continue, one day the enemy will oust them as well. Before that time however, when the country realises that no fair or just results can be obtained peaceably, I believe the whole shebang will explode and the words of Enoch Powell come tragically home to roost. For pity's sake don't let it come to that. For Gods sake let some common sense prevail. Stop worrying about hurting someone's feelings; they don't give monkeys about hurting anyone else's. Get the priorities right. Deport those who oppose the British system. Deport those who plan or partake in any act of violence against the country, not spend millions of tax payers money given them a trial which can last for months or even years. Cut off all benefits of those who don't wish to comply with the British way of life. Introduce strict rules for those who wish to enter and live in the country i.e. knowledge of the language, customs and religious culture. Come down hard on any racist act or oration from ethnic minorities, bring to book as conspirators those who fail to come forward and identify the criminals in their midst... In short get your act together before the country sinks into a morass of extremism, and thousands of lives lost on the streets of the truly great cities of Britain- simply because we didn't want to hurt someone's feelings! Have no delusions, the whole debacle is part of an organised conspiracy and if not firmly, albeit fairly attended to, will, without doubt, one day see the demise of this still great country. Do me a favour, let the old Leaper come home and have a productive chat without worrying about getting nicked for it - promise? You know it makes sense.

Talking of chats, can't leave this week without mentioning my brief 'appearance' on Virgin radio. Had to wait for the Prime minister to get off the line before I could air even a view. Log on to Virgin radio's Christian O Connell quiz show and hear the Leaper preceded by his warm up man Tony Blair. I dunno - Funny old life 'ennit?

Keep the faith
