Shortly after I had returned from delivering a fire engine to Al Wajh, the depot boss approached me again. 'How would you feel about delivering a few tons of reinforcing iron to a secret airport under construction in the Yemen mountains Leapy?'

All right all right, don't worry, I'm not about to launch into another Saudi saga. Would I do that to you! I did however accept that offer, and actually ate dog for the first and last time, but that is most definitely another story.

So, for the first time in weeks I can concern myself with other matters, and there are plenty of those around at the moment. Of course the terrible conflict in the Middle East is well and truly in the forefront. I'd just like to state categorically that I am 100% behind Bush and Blair in the whole tragic debacle. Frankly find it difficult to believe that any clear thinking intelligent person wouldn't be. These terrorists, whatever they call themselves, and whatever flag they perform their atrocities under- must be wiped out. The last time I advised the 'ostriches' of this world, who appear to be in some kind of naïve denial, they must come to terms with the fact we are in a war, and a war that we could indeed lose, a great cry was heard throughout the land. I was accused of warmongering, trying to 'frighten the readers' and a whole host of self righteous outpourings. Thankfully, far more agreed with my views than disagreed, and I take heart from that.

Of course I'm appalled by the tragic loss of life in this conflict. Of course I weep for the dead and maimed little mites, appearing on our screens with horrifying regularity. Of course I would prefer the world to live in peace with its neighbours. Unfortunately these are not the views of these murdering animals, whose raving rhetoric and primitive principles threaten us all with a return to the dark ages. These people won't be happy till, women are third class citizens, (you listening girls?) Heads roll for kissing the wrong person. Religious police patrol the streets, lashing out at any female who shows a half inch of bare flesh. Public flogging and imprisonment are prominent for the most innocuous of crimes, the male of the species is all powerful, and democracy as dead as the proverbial dodo - and don't give a monkeys as to how they achieve their objectives.

The reason so many civilians are dying in this horror, is because the terrorists are using them as human shields. Make no mistake, these people are fiendishly clever. They know the value of propaganda. They know sympathies will lean toward them as more and more innocents are slain by the 'enemy'. In their warped conciences they excuse their actions by convincing themselves that all who die in Jihad will go to paradise, and are therefore all basically being done a favour! And you still think these people should be allowed to share the same planet as reasoning democratic societies? Give me a break. OK, each to his own you may say. This would be fine, were they to confine themselves to their own areas. But they want us ALL to be like them. No, we shouldn't be decrying the Israeli's in their lone endeavours, we should be sending in troops to assist them. They are in fact fighting our war for us. Should they lose, or stop before the terrorists are wiped out, the possible outcome is the biggest nightmare of all. Anything short of victory could in fact be the end of civilization as we know it. Sooner or later, should these misguided maniacs survive as a force; Iran will most certainly supply them with nuclear warheads, which they will have no hesitation whatsoever in using against Israel. When this happens, Israel, if still able, will immediately reciprocate. America will then launch a nuclear attack on Iran, and probably Syria as well. The outcome of this holocaust will make the amount of civilian casualties to date, akin to a thimble of sand in the Gobi desert. Great clouds of poisonous, radioactive dust will float around the world, infecting the whole planet with tumours and radiation poisoning. Oil prices will rise to levels that will bankrupt economies, and nothing will ever be the same again. We will in fact have taken part in the manifestation of the prophecy of Armageddon.

Sorry to be such a damp squib, but we really have to get our priorities right. Let us all pray that this time God is indeed on the side of the Israelis, and that as few innocents as possible are the victims, as they continue in their conflict, which can only have one conclusion - victory.

If not, to my mind I'm afraid we can all stick our heads between our legs and kiss our proverbials goodbye. And talking of goodbyes, as I await the (hopefully non nuclear) slings and arrows, I wish you all goodbye for another seven.
