Every week I write and article for the Euro Weekly News, an English-speaking newspaper covering all the major resorts of Spain and the Balearics. You can pick up a copy on a Thursday ... or read it here every week.

This week's article - Thursday 20 March 2008

The British government’s pathetic attempts to put right years of disastrous decision- making with their ludicrous immigration policies would be laughable if it were not for the fact that they demonstrate with frightening clarity just how inept and out of touch these privileged pillocks actually are. These unbelievable incompetents are so far removed from the true views of the majority, I sometimes get the impression they all exist in some form of giant alien pod, which only sounds the alarm when penetrated by something that may just possibly lean on the ejector seat button.

This latest scheme to cover their ever-widening rear ends is yet another example of their naivety or, more likely, sheer arrogance with regard to the wishes of the majority of the British people who, almost without exception, believe their liberal immigration laws are at the best misguided and at worst deserving of a firing squad. (I base this on the fact that for every one letter or opinion I receive opposing my views, I receive ten more agreeing with them.) I can just see these blundering bull…...rs all sitting around at the club supping their port and brandies (not many Romanian gypsies in that immediate vicinity I’ll be bound!) not trying to sort out the root problems, heaven forbid, but trying frantically to yet again come up with some form of con to appease the British public. Is it not a true measure of their complete underestimation of the people’s intelligence that they really believe bringing in a law requiring all new immigrants to swear allegiance to the Queen will make the slightest difference?

Do they truly believe that anyone fresh off the boat is going to rush out and fill their homes with decorated royal mugs just because somebody tells them if they want to be British all they need to do is merely to repeat a promise, in a language they probably don’t understand, that they really do love Queen…. er Queen…umm... Mercury? Give us a break! What an insult to those who are proud to have earned the right to be British over hundreds of years of conflict and sacrifice endured by their forefathers. I despair of the whole sorry scenario.

Another gem is the decision to give convicted prisoners a few grand to go home on completion of their sentence. You couldn’t make it up, could you?

I’m certain that in the bars and shacks of far-off lands, when the locals are told what to expect from Britain’s financial handouts, they really find it difficult to believe themselves.

After this latest announcement you couldn’t really blame them for arriving in the UK specifically to commit a crime (not that there are no doubt a considerable number of them doing that already). It’s not exactly an inducement to seek out an honest day’s work, is it?

“OK, gather round my brothers. We’ll all go over to Britain, break into a few places or mug some people. If we don’t get caught, all well and good. If we do, they will keep us housed, fed, watered and clothed for free and then give us lots of money to come home again. We’ll use this money here to set up a citizens’ advice bureau advising others how to bleed the barmy British dry.” I truly do give up.

I also find it difficult to sympathize with the so-called Romany woman who left her 15- year-old daughter in Goa to be ‘looked after’ by a 25-year-old Indian barman. Hopefully, this apology for a parent will spend the rest of her days searching her conscience and praying for forgiveness for being such an incompetent, selfish and thoroughly irresponsible guardian who should have been sterilised years ago instead of allowing such heartbreak and misery to enter a world in which she describes herself as a ‘free spirit’. The only free spirit this woman would be akin to is the one the publican forgets to charge her for.

Have a gay week, keep them emails to the fore and, whatever ya do, always keep the faith.
